WEB EXTRA: Ashleigh Banfield rides through area under tornado warnings

We don't normally put our anchors in the middle of areas under tornado warnings. But Ashleigh Banfield, on her way back home with producer Melissa Morgenweck from reporting in Harrisburg, IL for "Early Start," found herself in the middle of one.

The CNN Weather team reported all morning that severe weather was expected throughout the Midwest and parts of the South today.

As Melissa drives towards St. Louis, MO, Ashleigh records the rough rain, hail and wind they had to drive through in the area under threat from tornadoes. They did make it through the storm safe and sound, as you'll see in the second video.

These videos show the danger of sudden tornado warnings, especially for folks on the road. Stay informed with the latest weather news and warnings at Weather.cnn.com.
