A young mother in New York City nearly lost her eight month old daughter. She was pushing the young child in a stroller Tuesday afternoon when a livery cab jumped a curb and crashed into them on a sidewalk.
The shocking scene was captured on surveillance video. Mary Snow shows us what happened.
“Both mother and daughter escaped serious injury,” Snow reports. “After spending a night in the hospital for observation baby Perla is lucky to be home safe after this frightening collision."
Two maintenance workers were stranded when their scaffolding snapped 45-stories above a Manhattan street yesteday. The Hearst Tower has a unique zigzag shape and requires a complex window-washing scaffold. That made getting the men to safety even trickier. John Berman has the story.
“Neither of the men were injured in Wednesday's incident,” Berman says. “And authorities say people below were never in danger. The scaffold was firmly secured the entire time."
However, working with scaffolding is a dangerous profession. "According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 60 deaths and about 4,500 high-rise related injuries each year.”
