Students unaccounted for after tornado hits 2 elementary schools: CNN's Pamela Brown reports

CNN's Pamela Brown reports on the two elementary schools hit by a devastating tornado in Moore, Oklahoma. The school in the direct path of the storm was Plaza Towers Elementary School. About 75 students and staff members were hunkered down in Plaza Towers when the tornado struck.

Tornado hits Moore Medical Center: CNN's Nick Valencia Reports

CNN's Nick Valencia discusses the Moore Medical Center which was 'reduced to rubble,' following the deadly tornado that tore through the town of Moore, Oklahoma on Monday evening.  All patients and hospital staff were moved to the basement of the building, and no tornado related injuries occurred.

Injuries may result in 'major trauma' in aftermath of Oklahoma tornado- Senior Medical Correspondent Elizabeth Cohen reports

CNN has the latest developments on the deadly tornado that struck an area outside Oklahoma City yesterday. Senior Medical Correspondent Elizabeth Cohen explains the minor and major injuries people may be facing in the wake of the devastation. "About half of the injuries are going to be from flying debris," she says, "especially wood." Then "much of the rest would be people who were actually hit by the tornado, where the tornado actually lifted them up, dropped them down."

Tornadoes Devastate Midwest: At least 4 Tornadoes touchdown in Kansas

Randy Duncan is talking with Zoraida Sambolin on 'Early Start'. He is the director of emergency management for Sedwick County in Kansas. Sedgwick County faced at least 4 tornadoes.

Duncan reports that the county saw 'no fatalities,' and no major injuries. He reports that about 22 structures were damaged.

Two hot air balloons collide in mid air killing at least 1 person

 At least one person was killed early this morning when two hot air balloons collided in mid air. The crash happened in central turkey. The balloons were flying above several volcanoes at the time. At least 18 people were injured in the crash.

President Obama taps Daniel Werfel to be the new acting IRS commissioner – CNN’s Dan Lothian reports

President Obama wasted no time selecting a senior budget officer Daniel Werfel to be the new acting IRS commissioner. He replaces Steven Miller who was fired this week over the allegations the IRS agency targeted conservative political groups applying for tax exempt status. Friday, Miller will be grilled about the scandal in the first in a series of congressional hearings by Members of the House Ways and Means Committee. CNN’s Dan Lothian is following developments for us.

Florida man charged by federal authorities with tricking girlfriend into taking abortion pill

A Florida man is now facing federal murder charges after he was accused of tricking his girlfriend into taking abortion pills to end her pregnancy. The suspect is charged with first degree murder, and product tampering. Under the Federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act, the murder charge could carry a life sentence for the suspect if convicted.

National Weather Service says at least 16 tornadoes touched down in Texas – Victor Blackwell reports

People in the neighborhoods hardest hit by tornadoes in Texas are not being allowed back to survey the damage this morning. Resident Ronna Cotten said she was told that she can't re-enter her subdivision to "check to see if we have any belongings left" for at least two days, maybe as many as seven.

The National Weather Service says at least 16 tornadoes touched down and those who have seen the scope of the damage firsthand say it is surreal and extensive. This morning Victor Blackwell has the latest on the aftermath and the missing from Granbury, Texas.
