VIDEO: Leno, Fallon make light of rivalry by bursting into song

(CNN) - Rivalry? What rivalry?

Late-night talk show hosts Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon, who've been pitted against each other as rumors fly that NBC is mulling a changing of the guard, made light of their situation Monday night, by belting a show tune together.

"Tonight, tonight, who's going to host 'Tonight?' Is it going to be Jimmy or Jay?" the pair sang in a parody of "Tonight" from the Broadway musical "West Side Story."

The rumor mill has Fallon, 38, taking over 62-year-old Leno's job as host of NBC's "Tonight Show," and Leno has responded with pointed barbs at his employer that have seen his ratings rise.

"In the news, they say I'm replacing you, they think that I can woo, the demo," Fallon sang.

NY Yankees icon Derek Jeter opens up on baseball, team ownership, honoring Sandy Hook victims

It happens every spring. But baseball opening day 2013 will be much different for one major league player.

NY Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is starting the season on the disabled list for the first time in over 10 years. However, much of the focus this afternoon at Yankee Stadium will be on the victims of the Sandy Hook school massacre, when the season is dedicated to them.

CNN's Rachel Nichols had the chance to sit down with the Yankee captain to talk baseball, and the importance of honoring those who lost their lives in Newtown, Conn.

The suspect was arrested on assault charges and remained in police custody Sunday afternoon, Morales said. His motive was unclear, Morales said, but police believe drugs or alcohol may have been involved.

CNN's Nick Valencia reports on the latest in the investigation on "Early Start" this morning.

South Korea warns North of 'strong response' to any attack after increasingly tense rhetoric – Kyung Lah reports

FROM CNN WIRES:

Seoul, South Korea (CNN) - The South Korean president on Monday warned North Korea that any provocative moves will be met with "a strong response" as the United States deployed stealth fighter jets in the tense region as part of joint military exercises.

"If there is any provocation against South Korea and its people, there should be a strong response in initial combat without any political considerations," President Park Geun-hye said at a meeting with senior defense and security officials, according to her office.

Her comments came after North Korea rattled off fresh volleys of bombastic rhetoric over the weekend, declaring that it had entered a "state of war" with the South and labeling the U.S. mainland a "boiled pumpkin," vulnerable to attack.

On "Early Start" this morning, CNN's Kyung Lah reports on South Korea's response to North Korea's increasingly hostile rhetoric.

Manhunt for suspect in Texas D.A. death two months after assistant D.A. was killed – George Howell reports

FROM CNN WIRES:

Kaufman County, Texas (CNN) - Frayed nerves and a palpable tension cloak this quiet Texas county as half a dozen agencies hunt for the killer or killers bent on taking out top criminal justice officials.

Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, were found dead in their house Saturday, two months after an assistant district attorney was gunned down in broad daylight outside the county courthouse.

The killings have residents and prosecutors in Kaufman, east of Dallas, on edge - and on guard. Are the deaths connected? Are they the work of a lone wolf? Are they retribution? Most troubling, will there be more?

This morning on "Early Start," CNN's George Howell reports on the intense search for suspects in the deaths of Texas D.A. Mike McLelland and his wife.
