Sen. Feinstein proposes assault weapons ban – Paul Steinhauser reports

FROM CNN WIRES:

Washington (CNN) - On one side were pegboard panels mounted with various assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons - including a Bushmaster similar to the one used in last month's Newtown school massacre.

Behind the stage stood police officers supporting a renewed ban on such firepower. One by one, victims of gun violence told their brief stories and expressed support for a new federal ban being proposed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein on some assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons.

Almost six weeks after the Connecticut shooting rampage that killed 20 first graders, Feinstein said she planned to introduce her measure later Thursday, with Reps. Carolyn McCarthy of New York and Ed Perlmutter of Colorado doing the same in the House.

Feinstein's proposal would upgrade an assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 and also outlaw ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

She said the goal is to "dry up the supply of these weapons over time."

This morning on "Early Start," CNN's Paul Steinhauser looks at the details of Sen. Feinstein's plan and the public support for this type of assault weapons ban.

The weapons that Feinstein wants to ban are not assault weapons!!
An assault rifle is one that has the ability to select fully automatic fire, via a selector switch, and shoot multiple rounds-(in bursts), with one pull of the trigger. The AR Semi-Auto Rifle is not this type of firearm as it can only shoot one shot at a time!! Machine guns are assault weapons and are limited in number within the U.S.
Strict Federal laws have been in place since the 1930’s regarding these very distinctive assault weapons.

A ban of all semi-auto firearms is what these anti-freedom individuals really want when they say assault weapons need to be banned. Only revolvers, lever, pump and bolt action firearms "might" be allowed to be owned....until some insane person kills people with an "assault revolver" who also had speed loaders in his possession to reload his revolver. Dozens could be killed with a revolver and speed loaders by someone who goes to a "gun free" zone and attacks his or her victims. (A revolver speed loader loads six bullets all at once into a revolver)

Also, it's time Americans awake to the fact that these senseless murders would not happen to the extent that they do, as in Newtown, if more people exercised their 2nd Amendment Rights. Why is there a fear of allowing school principles, staff and teachers to be armed?? If we, as people of courage, stand up against evil and/or crazy people, these events can be far less severe. Willing teachers who want to be armed and trained should be allowed in every school, not feared!......

Every American who loves freedom should stand against those who are trying to blame our right to possess firearms as the cause of the tragedy in Newtown. Let's also not let them get away with using false statements about firearms to scare the public who may not know one type of firearm from another and thereby divide Americans in the process.

Additionally, the rifle and the pistol are the weapons that are defined as being essential in securing Liberty by George Washington and to which the 2nd amendment applies. Tanks, rocket launchers, bazookas, and weapons like these are properly controlled items and are not necessary for the public to possess in order to secure their freedom.
It is semi-auto firearms that should never be banned and are sufficient tools for the public to own if we want to remain a free people.

The 2nd amendment is not so much about an item, like a firearm, but, instead, it is more about a perception that recognizes a prominent truth that runs through all of mankind’s history. That “prominent truth”, which is sadly recorded for us in the written annals of our history-even to this day- is this:
In every generation of human existence governments have proved themselves to be the greatest destroyer of people’s lives, their families, their happiness and their property. Governments carrying out abuses on their own people happens at a rate that is exponentially higher than any other human facilitator of such grief.

So, recognizing this undeniable reality about the trend of governments, the framers of this nation knew that the only way that "We the People" would have a chance of ensuring the survival of Liberty and our overall happiness, would be if we all possessed the “means and ability” to defend our Precious Inheritance against corrupted government!! That “means and ability”-(or tools and capability)-is the lawful possession of rifles and pistols, by the majority of the public in general. That's why the 2nd Amendment was crafted and the framers of this country encouraged firearm ownership and proficiency in their usage!
If anyone denies the truths stated above, than that person is blind to the facts of history-and most likely a coward as well-and is not worthy of the Precious Inheritance of Liberty that is the Birthright of every American!
