CNN's Jeffrey Toobin's book reveals never-heard-before details of the relationship between Obama and the Supreme Court

In his new book entitled, "The Oath: The Obama White House And The Supreme Court," CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin reveals never-heard-before details of the relationship between the president and the supreme court.

This morning on "Early Start," Toobin shares information from his book regarding Chief Justice John Roberts' flub during Obama's nauguration. Toobin explains, John Roberts "prepared a version of the oath marking off where the breaks would be and his assistant emailed that to the secretary at the congressional inaugural committee. That secretary never opened the attachment and never forwarded it to Obama's office."

Toobin's book also takes a closer look at what he calls the current competing visions of president Obama and Chief Justice Roberts. Toobin argues that there is an ideological battle between Obama and Chief Justice John Roberts concluding that one believes in change and the other believes in stability.

Amanda Knox's ex-boyfriend writes memoir admitting he gave Italian police good reason to suspect him – CNN's Matthew Chance reports

In his new book, the ex-boyfriend of Amanda Knox maintains their innocence regarding the death of her roommate, Meredith Kercher. In the book entitled "Honor Bound: My Journey to Hell and back with Amanda Knox,"
Raffaelle Sollecito admits that he and Knox gave Italian police good reason to suspect them, stating that bizarre behavior and lack of a "real alibi" definitely added to police suspicions.

The couple, who had been sentenced in 2007 for Kercher’s death, was cleared in October 2011 by an appeals court citing a lack of evidence against them.

CNN senior international correspondent Matthew Chance says, the book is “the first opportunity Raffaelle Sollecito has had to put over his side of the story since his release on appeal last year.” Chance adds that Sollecito reserved “ a lot of criticism for the Italian judicial system, saying that basically they took advantage of these two young people’s youth and inexperience in the place of a proper investigation.”

– CNN's Matthew Chance reports from London with more details from the tell-all book.

Will Romney's controversial fundraiser comments affect the election? – Democratic analyst Richard Socarides and CNN contributor Margaret Hoover weigh in

On Monday night, Mitt Romney held a late night news conference controversial remarks that were secretly recorded at a private fundraiser back in may. The hidden camera tape which was leaked to the liberal magazine Mother Jones and posted on you-tube shows the candidate arguing that nearly half of Americans will vote for President Barack Obama because they rely on government support. Adding to the "entitlement" argument, Romney says, "my job is not to worry about those people.”

On the tape - Romney also jokes about wishing he were "Latino" and talks about a Chinese factory his former firm purchased.

CNN contributor Margaret Hoover says, "Mitt Romney clearly misspoke here." Hoover, a former White House appointee for the Bush administration says the GOP nominee was most likely trying to appeal to Republicans and took information he received from an economic briefing and "then somehow conflated it with his campaign strategy which has turned into a play to the base strategy."

Democratic analyst Richard Socarides disagrees, saying "the big problem for Governor Romney this morning is that this whole episode reinforces beliefs that are starting to set in about him at a very crucial point in the campaign. That is that he's not ready to be president. That he says these kind of inappropriate things."

In his press conference Monday night, the GOP nominee took three questions from pool reporters regarding the secretly recorded video. Standing by his main message, Romney said his controversial comments were "off the cuff" and "not elegantly stated."

Responding to Romney's joke about wishing he were Latino, Hoover says, "I'm actually very concerned about the Latino vote." "You know what would be great? Is not if [Romney] were born to Mexican parents - but if he spoke a little bit of Spanish and was going to the Latino communities and actually talking about how unemployment under President Obama is actually two points higher in Hispanic communities," adds Hoover.

Amanda Knox’s ex-boyfriend writes a tell-all book – Criminal defense attorney Anne Bremner weighs in

In a new book set to hit store shelves Tuesday, the ex-boyfriend of Amanda Knox chronicles their journey regarding the death of Knox’s roommate, Meredith Kercher. The couple who had been sentenced in 2007 for Kercher’s death, were cleared in October 2011 by an appeals court citing a lack of evidence against them.

Criminal defense attorney Anne Bremner met Sollecito in Seattle after the convictions were overturned while serving as the spokesperson for "Friends of Amanda," a Seattle-based group of Knox family friends. Bremner says, Sollecito “was lovely, he was humble, he was grateful and he was really shy.”

In the book entitled "Honor Bound: My Journey to Hell and Back with Amanda Knox," Sollecito admits that he and Knox’s bizarre behavior and lack of a "real alibi" gave Italian police good reason to suspect them.

Bremner says, the strange behavior was “odd to the Italians. I think it was really a culture difference.” They were “shopping for underwear because their house was a crime scene – it was closed. They went out to dinner, simply because they didn’t have any place to eat. …These things were actually considered probable cause in Italy,” adds Bremner.

The criminal defense attorney says although that Knox and Sollecito no longer have a romantic relationship, they have been in contact. “After all of these years and all of the hell that they’ve been through, I think it would be kind of hard to maintain” a romantic relationship, says Brenner. Adding, “They only knew each other for a matter of weeks before they ended up in this horrible mess.”

What potential damage may the new Romney videos cause his campaign? – CNN's Mark Preston reports

On Monday night, Mitt Romney held a late night news conference where he took three questions from pool reporters regarding the release of a secretly recorded video. The footage, taped with a hidden camera during a private fund-raiser in May shows the candidate arguing that nearly half of Americans will vote for President Barack Obama because they rely on government support. Romney also made apparent jokes about wishing he had Latino heritage, and talks about a Chinese factory his former firm purchased.

CNN Political Director Mark Preston says "certainly in the 24-hour news cycle [Romney's comments] are devastating right now." Preston adds that the Romney campaign is very concerned because they put "their candidate out last night to try to address it and it was a very tortured explanation."

In his press conference Monday night, the GOP nominee said his statements caught on tape were "off the cuff" and could have been "more clearly" stated, adding that he was trying to point out the differences between the two campaigns.

Preston says, "This is not something the Romney campaign wants to deal with, with only 49 days before Election Day."

The video which was originally released on left-leaning news websites: The Huffington Post was altered dramatically to mask the location and date of the fund-raiser. The person who is responsible for the video has requested to remain anonymous according to the Huffington Post for "professional reasons and to avoid a lawsuit." However, author of the Mother Jones article, David Corn, said the event took place May 17 in Boca Raton, Florida, at the home of Sun Capital executive Marc Leder.

CNN's Mark Preston further explains the potential damage the newly leaked video may cause the Romney campaign as Election Day nears.
