Early Start Instant Poll: 'God,' Jerusalem and the Democratic Party platform

(CNN) – Democrats voted to update their party's platform Wednesday evening at their convention to include a reference to Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, as well as the insertion of the word "God," neither of which was included in their platform this year but was in previous platforms.

President Barack Obama himself intervened regarding the Jerusalem language, a senior Democratic source told CNN, adding, that he thought the original draft was "a strong statement and he didn't want there to be any confusion about his unshakeable commitment to the security of state israel. The issue of the day is Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah."

This morning, we want to hear from you. Do you think the party platform should include this language? Vote in our poll below.

The article of rot to mention that the actual vote failed to get the required two thirds vote required to change the platform. Check out the video and you will be amazed at how Dems count votes.

"Democrats voted to update their party's platform..." That was a vote? That was not a vote. Obama wanted something and again his wishes went around protocol.

I SAW the vote and that was no vote.

Do the Democrats want to try and commit political suicide by bringing out many religious and evangelical voters who would not normally vote for a Mormon (Romney) to come out in droves just to vote against Obama and the Democrats over taking "God" out of their platform? Do the Democrats just want to tell Romney "we want you to win Florida so we are going to try and lose as much of the Jewish vote as we can by changing our platform about Israel?" I think that Debbie Wasserman Schultz should be fired as head of the DNC and be replaced by someone who is competent! The Democrats also need to put our strong relationship with Israel back in their platform, blame it on Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and quickly fire her over it & over the other stupid mistakes (unforced errors) that she should take responsibility for as head of the DNC! Then maybe Democrats can possibly keep some of the religious and Jewish voters who they unnecessarily alienated.

Okay I am very glad to see that there was a capital "G" in the word God here. When you showed it on the tv it had a small "g". Let me just explain the differences please, when using the small "g" you are referring to something that you worship as a idol which can't not help you and spiritually support you. When you use the capital "G" you are referring to the supereme God the Holy God of I Am. You see when you the have true and Holy God in your life the supereme God and when this God is directing your Life in a way that man can not, This God allows you to have a clear mind, and a clean Heart. This same God will NOT allow to have a good night rest becasue your guilt and wrong doing would bother you and your nights will be restless. This God which that speaks about is the same God which they have been speaking about is the same God we have all over our Money, we had tis same God in our schools until we allowed Marilyn Ohara "remember her" to be remove from public schools. I always wander that when she died in pain sis she call out to God to save her. She even tired to have it removed from Money but she did not succeed Praise God. We say In God We Trust, But do we really Trust God, Yes he has give this country more than we could ever want to have or dream of having. America must be doing something right, if we were NOT there would NOT be so many peoiple from all over the world trrying to get here. American has been bad and yes we have even stop worshipping the ONLY and TRUE God. We are now having foreign country come to America and witness to us about the same God that we should be praising, worshipping, and giving honor too. Did you know that Saddam gave yearly over 250K to this country to reform us to his god? So you see in my opinion there is nothing WRONG with what any of the speakers said when it came to mentioing God in there speech. It's time for America, and American to go back to the Rock that got us here, and that Rock my friends is God!

I agree with Joe, Religion is and should remain a private matter and not a party platform. Separation of Church and State. CNN Early Start analyzes too much this morning as you Thursday morning quarterback.

BOTTOM LINE: CNN – YOU statement above is INCORRECT! The Convention has NOT over yet, and the platform has been amended to includes what President Obama wants in it! The Platform of the DNC convention DOES include GOD, and it DOES include Jerusalem as capital of Israel. That is a FACT! PERIOD!

Actions speak louder than words. The Democratic Party has uplifted GOD through their message and their actions all along.

Looking at the crowd. Listening to what they say. Hearing their united message: America, under God. Committed not only to Israel and ALL of their alliances, but Peace on Earth, Goodwill Toward all Mankind. Promoting unity, not division, upholding diversity instead of prejudice.

To err is Human. But it takes a greater presence to correct it in a timely manner. That's what makes the Democratic Party inclusive, not exclusive. And that's what makes America great. I would much rather see a corrected issue than a divided America. To see them move 'Forward' to correct a matter than hide it. God was there ALL ALONG!

I do not recall that any of the two parties endorsed ANY religion (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and the like) as its political platform, Joe. You're bursting into an open door.
