Romney calls health care mandate a 'tax,' contradicting a top aide – Paul Steinhauser looks at how voters could view the change

From CNN Political Ticker:

(CNN) – Mitt Romney said the federal health care reform mandate constitutes a "tax" Wednesday, contradicting the way a senior adviser to his campaign characterized his position earlier this week.

But the similar individual mandate and fee he signed into law when governor of Massachusetts is not a tax, he said in a separate interview, citing the Supreme Court's decision last Thursday.

Of the federal law, Romney told CNN's Dana Bash and Shawna Shepherd, "Supreme Court is the final word, right? The highest court in the land? They said it's a tax didn't they?"

"So it's a tax, of course, if that's what they say it is," he continued.

This morning on "Early Start," Paul Steinhauser looks at how voters could view Mitt Romney's clarification.

'Science Guy' Bill Nye says Higgs Boson discovery unlocks a secret to the universe, says we're a step closer to knowing where we came from

They call it the "God particle." It's a subatomic particle known in the scientific community as the Higgs Boson, which could be the key to understanding how the universe was formed.

Just a few hours ago in Geneva, scientists from the European Center for Particle Physics made a stunning announcement that this tiny particle, whose existence has been nothing more than a theory, could in fact be real.

This morning on "Early Start," Bill Nye "The Science Guy" explains what the Higgs Boson particle is, and why its discovery is so important.

"It may mean we would be able to unlock limitless energy, let me just put it that way," Nye says of the monumental discovery. "It may be we would understand the next secret of the universe. That we would know - we would be another step closer to knowing where we came from. We'd be another step closer to understanding the universe itself, which is ultimately quite a mystery to us."

Read more about the Higgs Boson discovery.
