(CNN) - A profanity-laced video of middle school students in upstate New York verbally abusing a bus monitor is sparking an outpouring of support as strangers worldwide rally to her side.
In the video, the students taunt Karen Klein, 68, with a stream of profanity, insults, jeers and physical ridicule.
Some boys demand to know her address, saying they want to come to her house to perform sexual acts and steal from her.
The bullying continues unabated for about 10 minutes in the video, reducing Klein to tears as a giggling student jabs her arm with a book in one instance.
"Oh my God, you're so fat," one says.
Klein, a bus monitor for the Greece Central School District, said she tried her best to disregard the harassment. The students involved attend Greece Athena middle school.
A web fund has raised over $100,000 for Klein to take a vacation.

Yet you are proud of what you have done. Kinda sad you would destroy a place where initresteng and free thoughts flowed and instead turned it into personal attacks and drivel.
Hey Christine...why did you call the horrific behavior of those kids as a possible example of "crowd mentality", is it because they are white youths, because if they had been black youths it would have been deemed "gang mentality." I think the media should watch how they frame these situations based on race and ethnicity. At any rate, those children should be punished appropriately because that behavior will only get worse if not put in check immediately.

DKL: There's no greater honor than to be clelad bold by the bold. The bold should know their own.Hey, what do conservatives think of Lindsey Graham as McCain's VP? He rose to prominance during the impeachment thing and has always seemed pretty far right & he and McCain seem to really get along. If McCain is running against Obama, it seems like it would make sense for McCain to tap a strong Thatcherlike woman conservative, preferably from the South, to pick up any unfulfilled latent desires women may have had to see a woman president this year. Do you have any woman on the bench that fits that bill and that conservatives would find acceptable? I've been arguing for a decade that Republicans need to start running strong, conservative women I think that's an electoral trick that the Democrats will have trouble countering.
It is sad that the poll showed a low opinion of US public schools but it is even sadder that A, Z and C contributed to this by their negative comments. The USA does not have a school problem, it has a poverty problem. US public schools with low to medium poverty are the best in the world.
to the announcer who thinks that the little animals on the school bus "maybe should get sensitivity training": try getting wise-up training for yourself. the parents as well as their offspring need to be given painful lessons.
These children have no empathy. I am positive that all those children involve will learn a great lesson if they spend one full day locked up in prison. If the parents allow (of course, parents will protect their saintly children) for these children to be locked up and treated as inmates for just one day, bothe parents and children will learn a great lesson. When counseling inmates, I was told by most of them that if their parents were more strict and gave them discipline they would not be in prison. It all goes back to what you learn at home. Our social ethics and morality begin at home, no were else. These children should be punished by doing public work for six months in an elderly home or similar setting. This punishment will include one day in prison. Marcial Reyes
Consider the way politicians act and then ask where do our kids see bullying?
Mom and Dad raised 7 boys and 4 girls, all to be respectable men and women, once again this video portrays what happens when you have no consequence for your actions, and once again you spare the rod , spoil the child
